John C. Mathis, CPA, has practiced public accounting since 1968 serving in both the audit and tax departments of both a national and local CPA firms in Dallas. In 1998 he was a founding partner in the firm of Kirkpatrick, Mathis & Brown PLLC. Prior to 1968 he was a partner in an oil and gas exploration company.

Throughout his career in public accounting he has been engaged in accounting, auditing, consulting, and tax compliance and planning services for businesses and individuals including automotive, construction, not-for-profit, oil and gas, and professional service industries.

He is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a BBA in accounting. He is a CPA in the state of Texas and is a member of the AICPA, Texas Society of CPA’s, and Dallas Chapter/Texas Society of CPA’s.


Homer A. Brown, MAC, CPA

After serving in the United States Air Force, Homer earned a business degree (BBA) at the University of Oklahoma. While working in the tax department of an international accounting firm (Big 8), he earned a Masters of Accountancy (MAC) at the University of Oklahoma.

Homer has 25 years tax experience in public and private accounting. He has served as the Vice President and Director of taxation in a closely held family business (consisting of a consolidated group of over 60 entities), a supervisor in international public accounting practices, and a principal in regional public accounting practices.

Homer has extensive tax experience in business practice consulting, tax planning and compliance for both business and individual operations. His experience has included the industries of oil and gas, ranching, distribution, commercial shipping, personal services, non-profit, and warehousing. His work experience has included substantial government interaction including - audits, appeal proceedings, installment agreements, and offers in compromise.

Homer is a CPA registered to practice in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. He is a member of the AICPA and Texas Society of CPAs. He is active in the community as the Past Treasurer of the Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter of the American Marketing Association, Treasurer for the Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church, and Past Moderator of the Finance Committee for the Canyon Creek Presbyterian.

Marion L. Brockette, Jr., CPA, CGMA began his career in the audit department of a large national CPA firm in 1976. Since then, he has held several positions in private industry, including serving as the Chief Financial Officer of publically traded UK oil and gas company and consulting for a major Japanese trading company on various supply chain management projects in West Africa, Alaska and the Pacific Rim. He was a shareholder in a local CPA firm from 1989 – 1999.

Mr. Brockette has extensive experience in providing auditing, accounting, consulting and tax compliance services to oil and gas related industries, real estate development and not-for-profit organizations.

He is a graduate of North Texas State University with a BBA in accounting. He is a CPA in the State of Texas and is a member of the American Institute of CPA’s, Texas Society of CPA’s and Dallas Chapter of the Texas Society of CPA’s.

Deborah A Pritchard (B. Comm, EA) has been providing tax planning and preparation for individuals, partnerships, and corporations since 2000. Deborah’s expertise includes a wide range of tax issues and includes real estate partnerships, non-profits, and international taxation having lived in Canada, the UK, and the Netherlands.

Deborah completed her education in Canada at the University of Alberta School Business School which is ranked in the top 25 Business Schools in North America. Her career started in the Banking Industry focused on Internal Bank Auditing and Financial Services Management. This established a strong financial foundation and supported a move into joint venture accounting in the Oil and Gas Industry. After launching two separate and successful entrepreneurial efforts, she joined Kirkpatrick, Mathis & Brown LLC, a full service CPA firm.

These experiences have provided Deborah with a solid commercial foundation due to the range of perspectives acquired particularly while running her own business.

Of specific interest is Deborah’s focus on real estate partnerships. She has extensive experience in providing accounting, consulting and tax compliance services to real estate development and ownership projects. Through active participation in multiple real estate partnerships (6) Deborah developed specific expertise in the key tax considerations for participants in these opportunities and currently supports a range of real estate partnerships today.
